WGWAU & MRC Communication

I want to start a dialog from insights and questions raised by the new spiritual conversation at MosaicRC.

One of the things that has intrigued me about Jesus Christ’s words and mission is that he incensed the religious establisment. As I read and re-read his life in the Gospels and especially his words I am impressed by three things. First, he so often addressed the religious leaders and told them of his mission. However, they did not support his work. On the contrary, they seemed to oppose him at every turn.

Second, it seems that Jesus most often communicated with a narrative approach or style. He was the master story-teller. So aware of God story [as recorded in the OT] and the stories of those he addressed. He always pointed people in the direction of having their life restoried in Him.. That God would give them a new life, a new story - a story of a forgiven life; a story of a life empowered by the Holy Spirit; a story of a life realizing all that God intended in Christ.

Third, Jesus also spoke with the call - “Those who have ears to hear, let them hear.” We are also called to not only be hearers of the Word, but doers of the Word. Verses like Luke 4:19 seem clear enough. But, it harder than many would admit.

What do you think about the term “Club Christians?”

Why do you think a narrative approach was the way Jesus choose to communicate?

How are you a doer of the Word?
